Our Love Story: Link UP!

The blog reader in me just loves getting to know people and their life story. The blog writer in me also loves to share! Since Valentines day is just around the corner, I figured this was an appropriate and cliche topic to join in on. I have never really done a "link-up" post but I keep stumbling across them, so why the heck not! So the point is to copy and paste the following and share a little love thang with the blogging world for Valentines Day!! So LiNk Up!!!

1. How long have you and your significant other been together?
Eight total years together, it will be nine years this coming November! WOA!

2. How did you meet? {What's your "love" story?}
We are high school sweethearts. We met November 2003 and have stayed together through high school, long distance college, long distance 17 month engagement, and are now enjoying life as big kids. Our first date was to the Cheesecake Factory in Chandler, Arizona. I am a sucker for traditions, so we go back every year to celebrate our Date-Aversary!

Nov 2006! Our first date! This was taken with a disposable camera! Sheesh how technology has advanced in 8 years!

3. If married, how long have you been married?
We just celebrated our First Year wedding anniversary last month! My parents gave us a small surprise party, it was wonderful! If you follow the link, you will see all of our First Year traditions we were SO excited to start! We are looking forward to many more anniversaries!

4. If you are married, where did you get married at? Big or small wedding?
We got married in the snow tops of Vail, Colorado January of 2011. It was a small wedding of just over 60 people of our closest family and craziest friends. It was a four day event and we all had a blast! See our Wedding Page on the blog!

5. Do you have any nick-names that you call one another?
Aside of the long and short versions of 'babe' he also calls me 'lover bunions'. I call him hub-a-lub, hubster, or hubby!

6. Name 3 things you love most about your honey.
He can make me laugh when I really don't want to. He also knows how to take care of me like no one else I know; he pretty much is tied with my mother (never thought that was possible). He most importantly knows how to speak my love language.

7. Is he a flowers and teddy bear kind of guy for v-day, or strawberries, champagne, and rose petals?
He bought me a teddy bear... once... and never again! HAHA! He knows better now! He is a chocolate covered strawberries, sugary treats, and white wine kinda man! He has also been known to provide many many flowers! Our high school years were mostly roses, but he has since expanded his horizons. He surprises me with the most beautiful flowers! I am so blessed!

8. Tell us how he proposed?
The weekend before fall semester of Junior year in college started, he came down to Tucson to spend with me. My roommate and I went to the grocery store for libations and sweet treats before heading out for the night. Upon return to our house I was shocked with a surprise! Through our glass french doors I saw the lights were off, and candles lit up the living room. I was frozen in shock at the front door, my roommate actually had to open the door and insist I enter. I walked in laughing and shaking with nerves as I saw a small box in his jean pocket. Music was playing, to which he asked to me dance with him to. When the chorus of the song talked about the man proposing, thats exactly what he did. He got down on one knee! I could not even speak; my smile consumed my words! He almost put the ring on the wrong hand; but as we both laughed and hugged, and kissed! I was so in shock!

9. Are you a sunset dinner on the beach kind of girl, or pop a movie in and relax on the couch?
BoTH!! If we lived close to a beach or had a patio we would have more sunset dinners because we both love them. But movies and the couch are our favorite!

10. Tell us one thing you'd like to do with your significant one day. If you could do anything? Go anywhere?
We love to travel!! I just recently returned from the Southern Caribbean, loved it! However, we are both dying to travel to Europe! His ancestry necessitates a trip to Spain, and mine to England, (Plus they are on my 101 in 1001 Goals list). So those are next on the docket. Then of course I would love to spend about a month in Italy!

11. Tell us what you plan on doing this Valentine's Day.
My husband enlisted in the US Marine Corps last summer; so originally Abel was supposed to be leaving for boot camp Feb 13, but we just found out a couple of weeks ago things were pushed back. Thus we did not have any plans. I was planning on dinner with a girlfriend and probably crying myself to sleep afterwards! HAHA! Such a mush! Now I am so lucky to have my hubby around so we will probably hit up the couch for a movie, chocolates, dinner, wine and .... nuff said.

12. Are you asking for anything this Valentine's Day?
Nope! Just beyond happy to actually have him here to celebrate with!

13. Give us one piece of advice of keeping a relationship strong and full of love.
If you love someone, never give up! Communicate, listen, be generous, be gracious, and love your spouse they way THEY want to be loved.

14. Show us a picture of what love means to you.
